Job Summary:

Morsan HR Consulting Ltd is currently seeking a motivated accountant who will play a key role in supporting our finance team to deliver timely and reliable financial information to support business decisions, managing day-to-day accounting functions, including ledger entries, reconciliation and assisting in maintaining compliance with Kenyan accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update general ledger accounts
  • Prepare and process journal entries, invoices, payments, and receipts.
  • Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and customer accounts regularly.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Support the Chief Accountant in month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for audits.
  • Ensure compliance with Kenyan tax laws and assist in preparing tax returns like PAYE, VAT, and withholding taxes.
  • Assist in maintaining internal controls and adherence to financial policies and procedures.
  • Support the timely submission of statutory reports and filings.
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitoring of expenses.
  • Monitor and report on variances between actual and budgeted costs.
  • Maintain fixed assets registers and depreciation schedules.
  • Support payroll processing and related accounting entries.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure the accuracy of financial data

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting from a recognized institution.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in accounting of finance roles.
  • Experience with accounting software such as SAP, SAGE, QuickBooks, and proficiency in the Microsoft Office.
