Job Summary:
Morsan HR Consulting Ltd is currently seeking a motivated accountant who will play a key role in supporting our finance team to deliver timely and reliable financial information to support business decisions, managing day-to-day accounting functions, including ledger entries, reconciliation and assisting in maintaining compliance with Kenyan accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update general ledger accounts
- Prepare and process journal entries, invoices, payments, and receipts.
- Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and customer accounts regularly.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Support the Chief Accountant in month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for audits.
- Ensure compliance with Kenyan tax laws and assist in preparing tax returns like PAYE, VAT, and withholding taxes.
- Assist in maintaining internal controls and adherence to financial policies and procedures.
- Support the timely submission of statutory reports and filings.
- Assist in budget preparation and monitoring of expenses.
- Monitor and report on variances between actual and budgeted costs.
- Maintain fixed assets registers and depreciation schedules.
- Support payroll processing and related accounting entries.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the accuracy of financial data
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting from a recognized institution.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is an added advantage.
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in accounting of finance roles.
- Experience with accounting software such as SAP, SAGE, QuickBooks, and proficiency in the Microsoft Office.
