JOB SUMMARY:

The junior designer will assist the lead designer in defining client(s) order requirements, creating furniture drawings and providing quality control support.

Responsibilities

● Study design briefs and determine requirements in liaison with the design and sales teams.
● Generate sample designs using computer-aided design (CAD) and hand sketches where needed.
● Prepare furniture production drawings using Archicad or Sketchup.
● Use appropriate colours and layouts for each drawing to match the product description.
● Amend drawings or designs after client(s) feedback.
● Provide support to the production team in ensuring designs are implemented as per the drawings provided.
● Assist in quality control inspection of items in production from start to finish.
● Study and maintain product knowledge from the company catalogue and emerging design trends.
● Assist in showroom product arrangement and ensure items are always stocked.
● Manage the upholstery department and schedule upholstery works as needed.
● Any other duty as assigned by the lead designer or management.

Requirements

● Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) – knowledge in Archicad modelling would be an added advantage.
● Minimum 1 year experience working in a wood-working setup, furniture workshop or timber manufacturing workshop.
● Drawing skills and strong visual awareness.
● Ability to work methodically within deadlines.
● Excellent communication skills.
● Attention to details.
● Ability to manage workload and learn quickly and effectively.
● A team player with strong interpersonal skills
